Smile Food Art

There are many different ways to express art, whether it’s done with paints, oils, junkyard scrap, or something else. Every artist has his or her own style and way of seeing something. Art maybe old or new depending where and when in history the subject was done. However, my true art comes in the form of food.

I mean think about it, “Culinary Arts” is “Food Art” and just like every artist we practice our skills and techniques in the kitchen, (and the best part is, our art is edible!)

Everywhere you go, every television commercial you see, or every radio talking about food is a form in itself. Again, think about it, do you want to see just a burger with meat and a bun? Or do you want to see a burger with added color by using crisp green lettuce, a bright juicy red tomato, and sharp cheddar cheese?

What you see is what you get and what you hear makes you picture a big burger with all the topping. And I also used another “style” of art…descriptive words that helped emphasized the burger. That’s what radio ads and your waiter and waitress do to help the person get a mental picture of the food item before getting it.

Television has come a long way from being black and white to techincolor, which have helped all the food commercials greatly since then. Every food commercial is broken down and the food is enhanced or sometimes even over exaggerated to make the customer crave the product. They use the freshest and brightest products if they didn’t the product that they would be trying to sell would look lifeless and dull.

I don’t know about you, but a dull gray world seems a bit depressing to me, but thankfully its not that way. We have colorful food and that is a good thing! Food art is amazing in itself and if you take the time to really look at your food then you might see what I see.
